Velodrome Bike Certification

Paul Wells, the managing director at the track told me that for a bike to even be considered to be allowed on the track the bike must have 11.2 inches of bottom bracket clearance.

The Fuji bikes work, http://www.fujibikes.com/Specialty/Track/TrackComp.aspx

The problems so far in finding a bike that will work are...
1. Websites don't always publish this information
2. Many "track bikes" are urban fixes with low BB heights.

Known bikes that cannot be ridden on the track
- Surly Steamroller
- Redline 925

Taxonomy upgrade extras:

Why so strict on bike clearance?

As I understand it there is no plans for the leagues to have matched sprint events, therefore why be so picky on the bottom bracket clearance issue? With that in mind, the only time a low clearance should be an issue might be during open ride time... but why would someone ride sooo slow in a corner to hit there pedal.

Madisons

Also just general safety. It's extra insurance for when you are riding slow.

Other off the shelf bikes that work - Specialized Langster S-Works (NOT the road fixie), and all the Felt bikes.

Lastly, Tiemeyer is offering stock frames at a discount to Boulder Indoor Cycling riders -- contact info on his website.

Tiemeyer Bikes

I have ridden the Tiemeyer Bikes in the past and they are top-notch.
If you want a frame that will last you from one of the country's bet frame builders than you are going to be stoked with Dave!

Bikes

The only "off the shelf" bikes i have seen on the track on the Biachi Pista and of course the Fuji track bikes.

Bianchi Pista

I just took in a 2008 56cm Pista with 170 cranks and it had enough clearance.......barely. Apparently, the Pistas are hit and miss as to whether they have enough clearance. Worst case, you may have to go with shorter cranks.

Enjoy!
