"End of Summer race" might get canceled!
Submitted by Kris Thompson on
Just in today.... The Deer Trail race scheduled for this Saturday might not happen. Here is what I got from the ACA forums
Summer's End Road Race - Deer Trail, Colorado - Saturday - September 6
May have to cancel unless more pre-register. We are at 101 pre-reg as of Noon Thursday. Of which, 80 are full paying racers, 21 are volunteer and comps. We need at least 150 Full Paying Racers to Pre-Reg by 10:00 P.M. Thursday or we may have to cancel. Full Refunds will be given to pre-reg'd racers.
The breakeven point is around 250 racers. Our club can only absorb a loss at 150 paying racers. We don't have sponsors to back us up. The Entire Race Budget is from Registants. If you are planning on racing, pre-register now. We usually get over 90% pre-reg'd. So that is the numbers we are going off of.
Info will be posted on the ACA and CyclingEvents.com site at 10:00 PM Thursday Night.
Registration and Race information is at www.CyclingEvents.com

It's too bad, but more of the same.

Unfortunately, adding the race late and putting it on 2 weeks after everyone was planning to be done was probably a mistake.
Running it on a not so fun course that we already did which is a few hour drive to boot put the nail in the coffin.

Great weather. Great little race. Course change made it interesting. 1-2 numbers where dismal. What a bunch of posers.
Colorado must have one of the shortest road season in the country. April to August. 5 months???
Pathetically short for the number of racers we have.
