Loveland City Councilman Struck by SUV while Riding his Bicycle

Loveland City Councilman Chauncey Taylor remained hospitalized on Sunday, recovering from injuries suffered when his bicycle was struck by an SUV in northeast Loveland.

The crash occurred around 1 p.m. on Saturday when Taylor was riding his road bike north on Monroe Avenue. He was on the east side of the intersection at Monroe and 37th Street in the bike lane and was wearing a helmet, Loveland Police Sgt. Jameson Gartner said.

According to police, a southbound SUV turned left in front of Taylor at 37th Street, striking and dragging him a short distance before coming to a stop.

Taylor was transported by ambulance to Medical Center of the Rockies, where he was listed in good condition on Sunday.

The driver of the SUV, 57-year-old Herbert F. Satterlee of Loveland, was not injured. Police do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.
