The Boulder local organizing committee (LOC) of the USAPCC is hosting the Summer of Cycling Kick-Off Rally tonight, June 29, from 5 – 9:30 p.m. at the Millennium Hotel Harvest House in Boulder.
To get people in the stage race spirit, the LOC will kick off the evening with the Most Outrageous Fan Competition. You know them, you’ve seen them at other races and on TV at the Tour de France—the rabid fans who dress up in crazy costumes and run alongside racers and do crazy things. Come in costume and get ready to compete in various challenges, including a 40-yard dash alongside a cyclist, an obstacle course, trivia questions and more. Don’t have a costume? No problem—or excuse. The LOC will have costume attire handy.
After the challenges, a panel of judges will select the top 5 finalists, who will compete in a final dance-off to live music by The Ticket, a local funk band. The winner will be chosen by audience cheers and clapping. There will be a decibel meter to register levels! Top prize: two VIP tickets to the Flagstaff Mountain finish (value: $1,000). Registration is $10 per person, and you can sign up on-site at the rally.
