Friday Fun - GM backpedals and Hudz Booth Babes
Submitted by Kris Thompson on

One of GM's ads this week
I know what Ms materialistic is thinking, "man, that nerdy guy is going to have a huge chunk of change saved up for a giant rock some day".
That ad sparked a ton of rage in the cycling communities so much that ABC News took notice.
But GM listened and removed the campaign but not in time for others to take some shots at the auto giant... like Giant Bicycles

Comments are blowing up on our Facebook page. BikePortland has also been discussing the ad with more different ad take offs.
I would be amazed if you haven't already seen this but just in case
Boulder bike company Hudz is being questioned for a somewhat common practice of "Booth Babes" at Interbike this year. I sadly missed stopping by their booth this year. The article on Bike Shop Girl brings into question if it is the boobs or the fact they are women that makes you interested.

The BikeHugger Blog Says Cyclists are Playing the Victim...
Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on
For DL Byron, a bike culture connoisseur and the man behind the BikeHugger blog and social media empire, the reaction to the ad by bike advocates and other bike-interested folks is off base. "There goes bike culture again," he tweeted, "playing the victim, instead of spinning the @gm ad to their favor." In a discussion he's started on Google Plus, Byron wrote:
"Bicycle advocates just handed GM a win. I'd have ignored it. They look great, we look like dicks. The lead-in to the PI story was, "don't make cyclist mad." Cause, ya know, they're angry zealots. My issue is short-sighted reactionary tactics don't help us. They reinforce why people don't like us."
