Fort Collins racers raise money for local fire department

From the Coloradoan

The Northern Colorado cycling community, which has seen the 40 in the Fort postponed and a day of the Taft Hill Times Trial Series wiped out, both because of the High Park Fire, could finally celebrate.

Ronny Bush and Your Group Ride held a short track mountain bike race at Bush’s home in southwest Fort Collins to raise money for the Rist Canyon Volunteer Fire Department. And, man, was it a rousing success.

Dozens of riders showed up on their mountain bikes and cyclocross bikes to ride the 1.5-mile single track course on Bush’s 8-acre property near the foothills below Horsetooth Reservoir. Dozens more spectators showed their support, and with $10 a pop for race registration and much more money from donations, the race raised $4,344.25 — all of the money going to the fire department.
