Estes Park Challenge Cancelled

Lots of interest in the Estes Park Challenge and speculation around the race. Most readers did not think this event would happen and they were correct. We just got this from this from the ACA:

Estes Park Cancelled, Master/Junior State roads moved to Deer Trail

Mon, 2010-07-26

After a month of no communication, the promoter of the Estes Park road race has cancelled his event. Thankfully, Stephen Haydel of Swift Cycling has agreed to help coordinate an alternate event on the same date (8/28) in Deer Trail. Look for more details when the race becomes final.

Due to the last minute change Stephen is finalizing details as fast as possible. One major hurdle is finding enough volunteers to make the race happen. Most Swift riders have done more than their fair share of volunteer hours at Deer Trail and Hugo earlier this year. At this point there have been two clubs that have stepped forward and graciously provided volunteers, Colorado Bike Law and GS Ciao. Many more volunteers are needed to make the event happen. If not enough positions have been filled by the 14th of August, the race will NOT HAPPEN. Please consider volunteering in order to ensure a Masters and Juniors State Road Race for 2011.

**Free entry for volunteering or for providing a volunteer for a half day**

Also please not that due to the numerous Master and Junior categories to be run, there will be somewhat limited senior categories offered.

Contact Volunteer@CyclingEvents.com to volunteer.
