Art Crank (building a serious amount of artistic watts since 2007)

Katie Macarelli
It's the weekend! You love bikes, you love art! Like a Reese's Peanut Butter cup, now you can enjoy both of these all in one place. Tomorrow afternoon hop on your fixie and head to TAXI in the River North Arts District for ART CRANK.

ARTCRANK is a poster party for bike people. Sounds great, right? Born in Minneapolis in 2007 out of a love for bicycles and design, ARTCRANK now hosts poster parties for bike people in a dozen different US cities, as well as across the pond in Paris, London and Manchester. From the onset, the show’s formula has been simple: Throw a party featuring affordable posters designed by talented local artists, celebrating bicycles and the people who ride them.

Denver has been lucky enough to host this magnificent party for the past four years; with turnouts of 600-1000 for every show. Spreading the good word of bikes, art and beer one year at a time!  This year's show will feature affordable, hand-printed posters by 32 talented local designers and craft beer from Widmer Bros. (sales of which benefit a lovely, local non-profit, BikeDenver).

“ARTCRANK is always a great time, and I'm happy to have my work shown in such talented company this year,” said ARTCRANK Denver veteran artist Josh Holland. “Attendees can expect a tasty brew, happy bikers celebrating hometown cycling culture, and approachable art that just about anyone can enjoy and afford. It doesn't get much better than that.”

He's right. It doesn't.

To get a sense of what Art Crank is all about, take a quick look at this 60-second time-lapse video from a past show.
