According to reports from friends on a ride with Dale Stetina, a car pulled onto a road as Dale was descending towards it. He was able to avoid the car but landed hard on the pavement. Flight for life took him to Boulder Community Hospital where he currently is in the ICU.

Wikipedia gives a long list of cycling accomplishments this Boulderite has done, 1976 Olympics, 2x winner of the Coors Classic and is in the Bicycle Hall of Fame.

Dale has a son, Peter Stetina, who currently rides as a professional cyclist and one of Dale's brothers, Wayne, is also heavily involved today in cycling and was a great speaker this year at the Ride the Rockies tour.
