Community Cycles wins North Face grant

BOULDER – Community Cycles, a nonprofit organization that educates and advocates for the safe use of bicycles, has won a $2,500 grant from The North Face Awards. North Face selected 52 organizations nationwide to receive grants based on the organizations’ work getting youth active and outdoors.

Community Cycles will use the grant to support its programming, which includes children’s safety education, workshops, and its popular Earn-A-Bike program. The Earn-A-Bike program is a 15-hour work-trade opportunity in which participants trade work done to support Community Cycles for a bike of their choosing. Participants learn how to maintain and care for their bike through the program.

“First-hand experience is essential to ignite passion for the outdoors,” said Ann Krcik, director of outdoor participation at The North Face. “At The North Face, we’re dedicated to providing everyone with the access to our natural playgrounds and the resources they need to get outside.”

The grant award to Community Cycles is part of more than $125,000 awarded the organizations across the nation.
