How would the segment on 93 make the race harder/more selective than racing the same overall distance with the same # of trips up the Wall as part of an out/back course?
Not a single sponsor gets any real ROI from sponsoring a 35+ team and therefore has nothing to lose by having their members race in the seniors. Might actually pay off at Nationals to race with the seniors.
Good point about finding spots to see the race twice per lap. It's a balance as to who to please. More spectators, particularly non-racers, appeals to sponsors, which helps the racers in the long run.
35+ 1-2 for the rest of this year should just ride with the 1-2 s and have results broken out for BRAt.
Having those groups would still be under max size...
Going to be some big push back from some sponsored 35+ teams though.
Nothing against the race or the organizers, but the revised course was nowhere near as hard as the original. Much fewer riders dropped and relatively large fields hitting the wall together for the uphill drag race.
First priority is safety, and the organizers did a great job on that and did the best they could for the race, given the circumstances. But a lot of riders had surprisingly fresh legs at the finish, and that would never happen on the original.
35+ Categories need to go away. Simple as that. Ride your cat if you are 36. If you are a 3 you are a 3 right? There isn't a problem of reaching field limits with 3s. 4s you might.
You can't put all your marbles in one bag (technology) and expect it to be working 100% of the time. There have been races on the front range were the camera has failed. Judges with with hand written record of the race did pretty good getting results at those races. CSU Oval crit collegiate A had that exact problem.
LOL 35+ sponsored teams. OOOOH, are we talking "masters" teams. I think you have to grow up a bit more than 35 to be a master.

Have a real Cat 2 race some time. Like at S/M. That would have been nice. All 2s can have a race without pros. Not just 35+ having that opportunity.
35+ 1,2,3 should go away. Make them ride their cat.
