Boulder Green Streets shut down Pearl street

BoulderGreensStreets ran their Ciclovia Sunday, hopefully many Boulderites learned from some of the many booths setup there just how easy it can be to get around by bike. Bikes aren't just for recreation and exercise you know.

From the Daily Camera

Pedestrians and cyclists took over Pearl Street from 15th to Folsom streets for the second annual Boulder Green Streets event. Modeled after a Colombian street fair called a ciclovia and sponsored by the city of Boulder, the event aimed to create a “car-free community play space.”

The mile-long stretch was divided into zones that celebrated facets of Boulder, such as outdoor healthy living, dancing and singing and innovation. There also was live music, street food and a pavilion where natural product vendors gave out free samples. Human-powered “Pedi-Cabs” delivered people up and down the street for free.
