The south Coal Creek Trail extension to the Coal Creek/Rock Creek Regional Trail is now complete and the Erie segment of the trail is open. Approximately four miles of 8’ wide soft surface trail has been completed between 120th Street in Lafayette and the existing Coal Creek Trail in Vista Pointe (south of Vista Parkway). The Town of Erie partnered with Boulder County and the City of Lafayette to secure a grant from Great Outdoors Colorado for the trail construction project.
The entire Coal Creek/Rock Creek Regional Trail will be 27 miles, connecting the communities of Erie, Broomfield, Lafayette, Louisville, Superior and
Boulder. The final 1.2 mile segment yet to be completed is located near US 36 in the City and County of Broomfield.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new 4-mile trail segment will take place on Wednesday, August 21st at 5:00 pm at the northern end of Majestic
Drive, approximately 0.2 miles north of the intersection of Horizon Avenue and Majestic Drive in Lafayette. Parking is limited; walking or cycling to the
event is encouraged.
