Having worked in the Louisville area a year ago I know the gem the Coal Creek Trail system has. This trail allows you to ride from from Lafayette to Hwy 93/Dowdy Draw on trail and now they are going to extend it into Erie. Fantastic place to ride in the winter months... trail is mostly empty. David and I did this more times than I can count last year.

Construction is set to begin today on a segment of bike path in Erie that by spring 2012 could become the eastern terminus of a nearly 30-mile trail network spanning east Boulder County.
Dubbed the Coal Creek Trail Extension to Reliance Park Project, the half-mile segment will link to the existing trail system in Erie and make it possible for cyclists to ride from Vista Ridge to Reliance Park north of Historic Downtown without getting on a road.
The project is expected to take the summer to complete.
