This has been a developing story on 303 for the past few months, first with Notice of the trail awareness post, and later with the notice of the open house which is tomorrow. While the open house will host no decisions it still will be a very tense setting given the tension between the county and landowners over the proposed new trail.
This will be an interesting trail once completed and it is important to make sure that the tensions created by the landowners doesn't halt its production. There has got to be a compromise that all parties can find.
Below is all the information on the Open House and the Website that explains everything
The second phase of the Lyons-to-Boulder Regional Trail Master Planning process comes to a close at this coming Tuesday's open house. During April and May of 2009, the Boulder County planning team received input from private landowners, the general public, and public agencies in conjunction with the design criteria. This information led to the development of three alignment alternatives running the length of the Lyons-to-Boulder corridor. You can now check out the three alignment alternatives on our website at www.lyonstobouldertrail.com. We have also compiled and posted all of the public comments received since our last project update onto this website.
Throughout the planning process, the County has received concerns about the impacts of the trail to the surrounding area. To respond to those thoughts, we have compiled a resource. This document discusses background, tools, options, studies, reports, and similar trails in Boulder County and throughout North America. This is resource is also now available on our website.
We hope to see you at next Tuesday's Open House to further discuss the three alignment alternatives.
