Attention Boulder County Cyclists:
Lefthand Canyon from U.S. 36 to Lee Hill Road will be closed to cyclists Monday through Saturday for the next five weeks while construction crews transport large materials into the canyon for flood repairs. Cyclists may use Lefthand Canyon on Sundays when the contractor is not utilizing the roadway. This temporary restriction is to allow our contractor to get a road constructed up to Jamestown within a very compressed timeline. This is a lot of material for them to get in via Lefthand Canyon which is still very narrow as a final road has not yet been put in.
James Canyon Drive is one of our final construction projects for the big ‘winter roads’ and will provide plowed access for Jamestown residents during the winter weather.
In the meantime we’ve been busy on designs for the “final” reconstruction of many of our damaged roads, bridges and trails, many of which will restore and/or improve bicycle access throughout the County. We are very much looking forward to sending you all the updates on these projects over the next two months as we get ready to start our 2014 Construction Season!!!!
More information on this closure is available on the County website:
Thanks to everyone for your continued patience and understanding as we try to put humpty dumpty back together again!
