CU Bike Station is rolling with the new semester

News Item:

The CU Bike Station is a place where students and faculty can get the bikes registered and some basic bike assistance or if in need they can rent a bike for a few days for free. Students are required to register their bikes with the CU police for logical reasons especially considering how many bikes get stolen and abandoned every semester. This year will be a big year for the CU Bike Station since this will be the first year students will not be allowed to have cars which gives CU a chance to get them from day one on a bike. To help with getting students on bike they will hosting a bike sale with Full Cycles the first week of classes Wednesday August 26th from 9am-5pm outside the CU UMC in the Fountain area.

Is the image of cyclist in Boulder riding on thin ice? Today the Boulder Sheriff AND the Director of Boulder County Transportation speak reach out to both cyclist and motorist asking them for "patience and courtesy" in the opinion section of the DailyCamera found here

Courtesy goes a long way

Since 2001, Boulder County voters have twice supported a transportation sales tax for improvements that help make our roads safer and more convenient for all modes of travel. With this funding, over 80 miles of shoulders have been built along existing roads, allowing bicyclists to ride in their own lane and cars to pull over out of traffic. These improvements have provided safer options for drivers and bicyclists, alike, boosting Boulder County's status as a haven for bicyclists of all types and abilities: daily commuters, families out for a weekend ride, and competitive riders on a training ride.

Day Dreaming of great rides

News Item:

Hello, my name is Kris and I'm not a mountain biker. Yes, I do short track and hold a few state mountain bike titles (not in this state) but I don't go on long mountain bike epic rides, you know the kind you sit at the office sometimes on a warm sunny June day and dream about. Riding up over the divide, stopping only to say hi to Julie Andrews and Fixie Dave. Don't get me wrong, I love mountain biking but competition in Colorado is hard for someone weighing more than a feather and epic rides take time that this father/CTO/(add more excuses here) has time for. So when I come across sites like Goat in a Turtle Shell, Redstone Underground, Sonya LooneyJeff Kerkove and Fixe Dave and many more I, quoting Johnny Cash, "I hang my head and cry".
