Boulder's B-cycle bike-sharing program installed its first station on University Hill on Tuesday and has wheeled a deal with the University of Colorado's Environmental Center that will add a station to the main campus later this month.
The forthcoming campus station -- scheduled to open in late August at the newly constructed Broadway and Euclid Avenue underpass -- will bring the number of B-cycle depots to 19 in Boulder. Earlier this month, a new station debuted at the North Boulder Recreation Center.
Now, through a campus rental program, CU students and employees can show their campus IDs and rent bikes for 48 hours free of charge, Smith said. But the B-cycle will be a way for visitors -- perhaps prospective students touring the campus -- to rent bikes, Smith said. The station also will be an asset for bus riders getting off at the Euclid and Broadway stop.
