Dear Colorado Cyclists,
Please join our 303cycling team this year as we ride in the Tour de Cure Colorado. All riders on our team will get our custom made Tour de Cure Polar water bottle and more. We know that everyone has busy lives and limited resources so pleases take the time to consider how much of a positive impact your time and commitment will help those who fight this disease every day. Colorado is fortunate to have many wonderful bike tours almost every weekend of the summer but it is this one we ask you join us, team 303cycling and me personally, Kris Thompson, on this weekend of August 16 in Longmont for the Tour de Cure ride. If you will not be able to join us, your support is still greatly appreciated. By making a donation or joining our team, you will be helping the Association provide community-based education programs, protect the rights of people with diabetes and fund critical research for a cure.
Now a little from me. I second everything Kris says, but I'd like to add (while Kris is on vacation) that this is a definitely a contest...whether he knows it or not. Even though we are on the same "team" so to speak, I'd still like to beat Kris's fundraising efforts. And after all, it's for a good cause (and I have no doubt that I'm a better good-causer than Kris).
I'm also really looking forward to riding as a 303 Team again. This can be an opportunity to rebuild our employer/employee friendship that was...(ahem) slightly damaged during the recent Golden Gran Fondo. Kidding. I've been working on my heckles all summer since the Golden Gran Fondo, in preparation for this ride...and cross season. Honestly, joining us for the Tour de Cure CO ride on August 16th will be more than worth the price of admission, so to speak. *For those of you who DO decide to ride with us, please note that I'm an excellent drafting partner. As Kris said, "Wow! It's like I'm pedaling through nothing back here! Like I'm on a cloud! You are a semi-truck!"
If you DO decide to donate to our team (and if this were the case, we'd be very grateful) you might want to be a little more educated when you make your choice.
Strengths on the bike:
Kris-climbing, and asking really annoying questions during climbs.
Katie- whining so much about the climbs that it forces everyone around her to slow down to the point of exhaustion for the first 45 miles, then dropping the hammer on the flats and descents.
Bike discipline of choice:
Beer of choice:
Kris-I don't really know, but I once saw him drink a Shock Top. Guys. A SHOCK TOP.
Katie-Almond Chocolate Stout from Cannonball Creek Brewing Company. Mmmmm.
"Better good-causer" proof:
Kris- He is very patient with my technology questions for 303 and he commutes to work on an E-bike (about which, I tease him mercilessly).
Katie- This is purely hypothetical, but if we were on the Titanic as it was sinking, first, I'd brilliantly heckle the orchestra, THEN I'd save us both because I'm a fantastic swimmer and an ex-lifeguard.
So with that, make your choice. And, yes, I may have used a little bit of humor in this article, but I fully understand the severity of this cause. We really DO hope you decide to join us both for the ride and to help find a cure for diabetes!
