The Sonic Boom Race will again be the Masters State Criterium Championship. Come watch as Colorado’s best cyclists race up Main Street and around Memory Square Park. The race course will start at Main Street and Walnut heading north. It follows a path through the residential streets west of downtown. The race finishes on Main Street at the same place it starts. Each group of cyclists will race around the course for a pre-determined time period depending on the race category.
A highlight of the day is the Sonic Boom Kid’s Bike Race, which is FREE to all kids 9 and under. The older kids will be racing around the full race course loop. The youngest kids will be racing around a truncated race course. Everyone will be starting and finishing at Main & Walnut at midday. All kid participants receive a free ice cream cone and ribbon, sponsored by Sweet Cow and All-West Trophies. Kids racing starts at 12:45. Make sure you come down to registration (Walnut & Main) and register your young racer ahead of time.
Elevation Cycles will be set up on Walnut & Main at the Start/Finish, and will be doing workshops on basic cycling road side maintenance (fix a flat, fix a chain, simple bike adjustments, etc.). They will be showing the bike tools you need for every ride and to use them. Workshops start at 10am and run every hour on the hour until 4pm. Come learn something new or get a refresher from the pro mechanics at Elevation Cycles.
Our volunteers are signed up. The preparations have been made. All we need now is you on Main Street cheering on the racers as they go by. Come join in the fun.
