Durango mountain bicycle powerhouse Ned Overend was surprised when he learned about the "Name It For Ned" campaign to rename a local mountain park in his honor.

The campaign, led by Colorado cycling advocate Ed Zink, succeeded last week when the city council voted in favor of Overend Mountain Park.

Zink, longtime chairman of the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic and a USA Cycling Level 3 coach, organized the effort to honor Overend.
