303Cycling caught up briefly with Mitch Hoke and talked a little bit about the Clif Bar Cyclocross Development team and their up coming fundraiser.
[303Cycling] Can you tell me a little the Clif Bar Development Team (whos on the team etc)?
[Mitch Hoke] We have a great team of young riders who we believe can be some of the next cyclocross stars. There is our local crew of Zane Godby, Maxx Chance, Ian McPhearson, Spencer Downing, Liam and Cormac Dunn. And the Bjorn Fox and Kolben who our off at college and other life adventures. We don't have any real requirements for the team but a love for cyclocross and riders that want to improve and succeed at a high level.
[303Cycling] How did you get involved and what is your background?
[Mitch Hoke] I joined the team as U23 back in 2008. I became one of the oldest members of the team and Ben Turner asked me to help him out with some managing the team. I grew up mountain bike racing and got into cross in college. I have graduated from the Development Team to the Pro Team Clif Bar version with other former development team riders Troy Wells and Brady Kappius
[303Cycling] Why are you having the fundraiser on Nov 29th?
[Mitch Hoke] We are having this fundraiser because we are taking three of riders over the Europe to compete against the worlds best juniors. It has never really been done by a junior team so we are stretching our budget farther then it has ever gone and we are hoping to raise some money to offset the costs for riders and their parents.
