Hover Street to get bike and pedestrian underpass near Longmont's Twin Peaks Mall
LONGMONT -- The city is planning a new way to cross Hover Street, by going under.
A $2 million underpass beneath Hover Street is set to be designed in 2013 and built in 2015, according to city staff. The bicycle and pedestrian pathway would cross at Dry Creek near Bent Way, not far from the Twin Peaks Mall.
About $1.6 million of the cost would come from a state grant, with the other $400,000 matched locally. City engineer Nick Wolfrum said the city had tried two or three times to get the project funded before finally succeeding.
Once built, he said, the underpass would build another link in the Dry Creek Greenway. That path is currently split in two, with one segment running west from Willow Farm Park at Fordham Street
