BOULDER, Colo.—Jan. 9, 2014—Community Cycles, a nonprofit organization that educates and advocates for the safe use of bicycles, raised $13,500 as part of a year-end fundraising program with the help of Wheels Manufacturing, who agreed to match donations dollar-for-dollar for the first $5,000 raised. Based in Louisville, Wheels Manufacturing produces high-quality bicycle derailleur hangers, small parts, repair parts and specialty tools, and it regularly supports advocacy for cycling.
The $5,000 contributed toward a total of $13,500 after Community Cycles raised $8,500 through its year-end appeal.
The donations help support Community Cycles advocacy efforts for 2014 including encouraging more people from all walks of life to use safe, affordable bicycle transportation and working with all levels of government to provide secure places to walk and bike and ensure that there is bicycle access on all roads and transit.
The donations also help Community Cycles continue with their core programs like recycling more than 2,500 bikes a year and hosting the Kids’ Holiday Bike Giveaway, which gifts 300 bikes to low-income children in December.
