Community Cycles Launches Used Bike Collection Drive Aug. 20-Sept. 15
BOULDER — Community Cycles, a nonprofit bike collective that serves Boulder County, has launched a used bike collection drive Aug. 20 through Sept. 15. The used bikes will be refurbished and recycled into the community through programs such as Community Cycles’ popular Earn-A-Bike program and Fleet Programs.
Some of the used bikes are refurbished by volunteers and sold at greatly discounted prices or donation prices at annual events such as the University of Colorado Back to School Bike Sale and at the Community Cycles’ Holiday Bike Giveaway. All bike proceeds are used to fund Community Cycles program and advocacy efforts for safe biking in Boulder County.
Used bikes, or accessories can be donated at Community Cycles, 2805 Wilderness Place, Suite 1000, Thursday through Sunday or Tuesdays from noon to 6 p.m.
“Our goal is to help people commute by bike. This is an important time for us as we can catch students when they return, get them on usable, affordable bikes, which cuts down on auto congestion and is healthy for students,” said Sue Prant, Community Cycles’ advocacy director.
Community Cycles recycles 2,000 bikes annually. All donations are tax deductible.
