2011 - 24 Hours in the Sage

2011 marks our eighth return as a premier destination endurance event; mountain bike relay racing, to be more specific. For either 12 hours or 24 hours straight you can compete in teams or solo categories… and not that we’re bragging, but we’re also home of the 24 Hour Solo Townie Bike World Championships (or Townie Worlds for short) which is “Super Extreme!” The best part about this event is the amazing trails out at Hartman Rocks and the absolutely unbeatable hospitality of the Gunnison KOA where the race officially starts and finishes.

2011 Winter Park X-C Super Loop

Perfect conditions for the 2011 Winter Park X-C Super Loop race this past Saturday in Winter Park. Top riders of the day were Travis Macy & Erin Huck and biggest losers goes to yours truly finishing dead last in the Expert field. It was a tough course of 18 miles of long climbs, fun decents and a few flat sections taking you through all sorts of cool terrain in the park. There were times I wondered if my handlebars were going to fit through some of the tree sections and there were some very cool gradual decents with rollers and stream crossings.. The entire time I was on course (which was a long time) I keep thinking how they should have a tour category because it really was fun (except for the getting passed by nearly all the expert & sport riders). On the up side, 303cycling got a lot of exposure since nearly half of the racers had at one point passed me. Regardless of my suckage, it was a great course, and once again, super pleased at how well organized race Winter Park puts on. Are they that "with it" on every race? Worth the $40 to race (less you you pay for the whole series). Mountain Moon Photography was back out on course shooting some cool photos and probably the only photographer. Next race up in the seris, Winter Park Point to Point Race July 9th
