OVERVIEW:
Like many of you, we've been awed and inspired by some of the great experiential races out there. Events like the Firecracker 50, the Gunnison Growler and the Laramie Enduro provide both a stout challenge and feature the singletrack and scenery we all crave as mountain bikers.

Honey Stinger was born and bred in Steamboat Springs, home to some of the highest quality riding in the Rockies. For years we've been talking about a backcountry race that showcases our world-class riding and our terrific community.

2011 - Desert RATS Classic 100K

100K Endurance Mountain Bike Race
Fruita, CO
May 14, 2011
On the western slope of Colorado, the famous Kokopelli Trail winds its way through sagebrush, ledgy slickrock, winding single track, sandy washes, fast jeep trails and crosses the state line toward Moab, Utah. This trail is the site of the first Annual Desert R.A.T.S. Classic. The 100 kilometer endurance mountain bike race is a challenging out and back test of stamina. Held in May, it’s a great early season test of fitness and a great reason to keep training over the winter and early spring. The course is equally well suited for geared bikes and single speeds and covers a wide variety of terrain including challenging technical terrain, grueling climbs, fast flats and tricky descents. This event is challenging and should not be taken lightly. While it is not designed for the casual rider, you can finish with focused and adequate training.
We’ll have five well-stocked aid stations along the course and a celebration waiting for you at the finish line with food, drinks, and music. Every racer that finishes in less than 10 hours receives a “finisher’s medal”, we’ll have sub 6 hour awards, and three deep awards in men’s and women’s categories.
