Carmichael Training Systems International Classic

The Carmichael Training Systems International Classic Mountain Bike Stage Race in Colorado Springs is scheduled for July 9-11. This race is sure to have one of the best pro fields of the year with a guaranteed $10,000 in cash and 80 UCI points for the first place male and female pro rider. Confirmed Pro riders include Todd Wells, Max Plaxton, Heather Irmiger, Willow Koerber, Ryan Trebon, Georgia Gould, JHK, Sam Schultz -- these athletes are at the top of the pro MTB field in North America and the racing is going to be great. For our amateur riders it's the last qualifying race before Nationals the following weekend in Granby, CO with $100's in merchandise and medals going to top 3 riders in each category and our junior riders are also taking part in the prestigious Alison Dunlap Junior Mountain bike Series. Spectators will not only enjoy the best racing of the year but also a large expo/food vendor area anchored by Kenda Tires, GT and Specialized Bicycles (rumor has it that the 2011 Specialized MTB line will be here). A special thanks goes out to our major sponsors: Carmichael Training Systems, GT Bicycles, Kenda Tires, Pro Cycling of Colorado Springs & Excel Sports Boulder. See for race information.

2010 Gunnison Growler Mountain Bike Race

February 2, 2010 – The 2010 Original Growler is SOLD OUT. The wait list is also over the top so we will no longer be taking names for that. Entries are transferable until at least a week before the event so keep an eye on the MTBR forums, etc.

The 2010 Original Growler will start at 7am sharp, Sunday May 30th with twin shotgun blasts. The course is the same as last year’s, with one small exception: we’ll be running it in the other direction (for the most part!) The well-marked course of around 30 miles contains loads of classic and challenging Gunnison singletrack – trails like Skull Pass, Top of the World, Rattlesnake, Ridge Trail and Joshos. You won’t be bored! The lap climbs around 4,000 vertical feet (but never more than a few hundred in one shot.)

The Original Growler is only for experienced mountain bikers that possess the skills and judgment necessary to assess difficult and challenging trails and roads and negotiate them in a safe manner. NO BEGINNERS, PLEASE!

For comparison, the general character and difficulty of the trails and roads in the Original Growler is similar to those of the BLM Mack Ridge Trail System near Fruita, CO: Mary’s Loop, Lion’s Loop, Horsethief Loop, Steve’s Loop, etc.

Leadville Silver Rush 50-Mile Mountain Bike Race

Leadville Silver Rush 50-Mile Mountain Bike Race

Race Description
It’s 50 miles of lung burning, leg bustin', pedal pounding that requires grit, courage and determination. Many riders have likened it to the infamous Leadville Trail 100 with the easy parts removed.

All finishers receive a finishers medal. Awards ceremony will be at the start/finish area, starting at 4:30 pm. Awards are unique and very special. All finishers will receive a "Leadville Silver Rush" silver bracelet and finishing medal. There are also great age group awards.

USA Cycling
This is a USA Cycling sanctioned race. Their rules apply with minor exceptions. Due to the extreme nature of the race, points are not awarded. Riders may accept replacement parts at aid stations, but must do their own repairs. You must start and finish with the same bike, and you must wear a helmet. Riders are required to check in at each aid station by bib number. Race numbers must be mounted on the bike and must be visible at all times. Race numbers may not be altered.

All racers will be required to sign an additional USA Cycling Release and Waiver. Please print this USA Cycling Release and Waiver and bring it with you to the race.

Photo ID required at check-in.
