Valmont Bike Park Cyclocross Race

Official Groundbreaking with an ACA Cyclocross Race & Fun Cycling Activities!!

Saturday, October 17th
CX Race and Bike Activities: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Groundbreaking: 11:00 am
Valmont City Park Valmont Road and Airport Road, NE corner Boulder, Colorado

The time has come to break ground at the site of our future Valmont Bike Park! Construction officially begins in 2010, but big changes are already happening at VBP - come see for yourself. The Park will be dirty, bumpy, and very far from finished, with a temporary one-time trail built just for the Cyclocross Race... but we are excited to see construction changes underway and, hey, it's never too early to start having fun at your new favorite Boulder City Park!
The Groundbreaking is only one part of VBP Fest, a full day of activities and fun, including:

* Valmont Bike Park Ground Breaking Cross races, 8 am to 4 pm
* Kids fun: jumpy castle and mini skills park
* Beer Garden sponsored by Boulder Beer, right on the CX course
* Jump Jam
* Food vendors
* Site tours to check out the bike park site and plans

Boulder CX Series #3

Race #3, Boulder Reservoir: Reminescent of Belgiun style courses with plenty of tough sand for riding and running. This course is also great when it snows. Unlike some other races at the Res, we go to great lengths to avoid the nasty Goat Heads. We've mapped them all out, make our course on both sides to avoid them and use astro turf as a last resort. GHs are not a problem at our races. Now only if we could get the other races to step.

2009 Junior Cyclocross Camp

Head Coach:
Our head coach is Ann Trombley. Ann began Mountain biking in 1984 in Marin Country California and has been racing CX since 1997. After Graduating with a Master in Physical Therapy in 1994 she decided she wanted to try Mountain Bike racing. She quickly moved up the ranks to Pro and was named national champion in short track in 2000, which was the same year she was named to the Olympic Team. Ann competed in the 2000 Olympics in Sydney Australia. After the Olympics, Ann retired from Professional Mt bike racing to get back to her Physical Therapy practice and begin her coaching career. She wrote a book in 2005 titled "Serious Mountain biking". Ann continues to race on occasion but you can find her mostly running from the start of a race to the feed zone and back, encouraging the athletes she coaches to race to their potential and beyond.
