    The Colorado Mountain Bike Association (COMBA), a chapter of the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA), is seeking candidates for an exempt, salaried, full-time position as COMBA Executive Director. The position will focus on increasing COMBA’s financial capacity with fundraising and grant writing, bolstering membership growth, and cultivating volunteer leadership. Other goals for the position include coordinating local advocacy, marketing and communications, and cultivating public land management agency partnerships.

    PRIMARY POSITION DUTIES AND GOALS
    It is anticipated that the Executive Director will spend a significant amount of his/her time on securing funding: cultivating donors, fundraising campaigns, and securing business partnerships and organizational sponsors. The Executive Director is also expected to further COMBA’s mission by overseeing organizational operations and executing the strategic plan. Tasks will include but are not limited to:

    Fundraising
    Collaborate with COMBA’s Board of Directors to develop a fundraising strategy with goals and measurable objectives.
    Develop and implement strategies to grow individual memberships.
    Build relationships and secure donations from individual donors and sponsors.
    Recruit new, manage, and retain existing business sponsorships.
    Develop and coordinate fundraising campaigns and events.
    Engage, guide, and support COMBA board members in fundraising efforts.
    Identify and capitalize on grant opportunities, including writing new grant proposals and administrating/reporting on awarded grants.
    Coordinate with IMBA’s membership services team on membership drives and membership retention.

    Advocacy
    Serve as a voice for the local mountain bike community.
    Maintain relationships with land managers and other mission aligned partners and groups.
    Support public policy issues that support mountain biking.
    Build partnerships with agencies, community groups and organizations, establish relationships with the funders and political and community leaders throughout the organization’s region of concern.
    Be an external local and national presence that publishes and communicates program results with an emphasis on the successes of the local program as a model for regional and national replication.

    Outreach
    Coordinate, plan, and manage events.
    Implement and oversee volunteer management program.
    Oversee COMBA’s Trail stewardship efforts.
    Support mountain biking and trail use education.

    Communications/Marketing/PR
    Create stronger brand identity and presence.
    Oversee and execute communications plan.
    Develop and maintain a relationship with local media and news outlets.

    Administration
    Insurance, accounting, tax reporting, finances, general administration, etc.
    Manage other paid staff (communications, accountant, grant writer, contractors, etc.)
    Manage non-board volunteer staff such as committee leads.
    Administer grants.
    Manage physical assets such as event banners and signage, trailer,tools, etc.
    Attend COMBA board meetings.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
    Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and a self-directed entrepreneurial spirit.
    Passion for and interest in mountain biking, outdoor recreation, conservation.
    Track record of raising funds from individuals, businesses, foundations, and corporate sponsors.
    Strong written and verbal communication skills including public speaking; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.
    Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
    Strong marketing, public relations, and communications experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures.
    5 years experience as a non-profit Executive Director or similar qualifications.
    Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget.

    PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
    Experience serving on or working with a non-profit board of directors.
    Experience with volunteer leadership development.
    Knowledge of mountain bike issues and challenges.
    Grant writing experience.

    TERMS & REQUIREMENTS
    Full-time salaried exempt.
    Base Compensation commensurate with experience and non-profit industry standards including fundraising incentives.
    Some travel will be required (reimbursable).
    Home based position within Denver Metro.
    Must be able to work evenings and weekends.

    Starting date: Summer 2016
