Trips for Kids Denver Metro is seeking a qualified person to assist with day to day bike shop operations, as well as, interact with youth groups of approximately 8-15 youth from predominantly at-risk youth.
Shop Assistant duties:
will assist shop manger with all aspects of running a retail bike operation and youth at work programs. This person will assist with overseeing of shop youth interns, volunteers and complete customer satisfaction.
Significant professional retail experience (preferably Bike Shop experience) with a focus on delivering a high level of staff and customer satisfaction
Comfort facilitating activities with groups of 2-20 individuals.
Has a passion for youth ages 10-18 years of age.
Experience and knowledge of working with youth in retail classroom and outdoor settings.
Experience handling multiple tasks, and responding to crisis situations with a professional and level-headed approach.
Ability to make individual judgment calls about safety and risk management with students, agency staff and volunteers.
Demonstrated ability to create a culture that values and respects diversity, inclusion, and teamwork
An enthusiasm for our programs and an understanding of mission-based, nonprofit work and development of youth workforce development
Competent skills fixing/repairing and building bicycles
Understanding of and ability to work within existing office and administrative operations.
Comfort working with Windows based software including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) and an online database.
Comfort driving van/truck on city streets freeways and mountain driving.
Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check
Spanish speaking (a plus but not required).
Hours and Pay Scale:
This position is a Full-time seasonal position estimating approximately 120 days of work (9am-5pm) and hourly wage based on experience. There may be opportunities for long-term advancement.
To work closely with the Program/shop manager in the execution of the ride, earn a bike and all retail programs. To utilize existing curriculum in the implementation of daily activity and learning exercises. To develop rapport with all youth, volunteers and agency staff during program activities. This person will function as an assistant manager on all areas of program development.
