CDOT to make cycling improvements to U.S. 36

Colorado Department of Transportation crews are scheduled to stripe bicycle lanes along U.S. Highway 36 north of Boulder this week as part of an effort to improve the safety of cyclists riding alongside the highway and through its intersections between Broadway and Jay Road.
The work, planned for 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, has been prompted by two cyclist fatalities in the area in the past five years, CDOT officials said in a news release.
New and improved striping is intended to better mark bicycle lanes through the intersections. Bicyclists will still be required to ride on the highway’s shoulder but can use the highway’s right-turn lanes as through lanes as they’re going through those intersections.

Bike lanes are marked. Still a badly designed section of road for cars and cyclists. Cut off at Yarmouth and take 19th street down into town.

better still turn right at Broadway and go south to Violet where you can turn left safely at the light in much lower speed traffic, THEN continue on to 19th through town. No reason to introduce the same visibility issues at Yarmouth; it's all bad along there.
