Big weekend ahead in Breckenridge as Breck Bike Week gets kicked off July 4th with the start of the Firecracker 50. This race is 50 miles of hard mountain biking and not only does the terrain make it hard but this race is also classified as the USA Cycling Marathon MTB National Championship. Last years winners where Sari Anderson and Jeremiah Bishop. There will be plenty more to do for the rest of the family if racing is primary for the day, check out the full list of 4th of July Events at Breckenridge.
The following day, July 5th is the start of the first of its kind in Colorado, a 6-day ultra-endurance mountain bike stage race held right in the near backcountry of Breckenridge! The 6 day event will cover 200 miles and almost 40,000 feet of climbing! The course maps look epic and spectator friendly with each day starting and ending in the town in addition to the cloverleaf design making is possible to following the race as it progresses. Not sure if there will be any live coverage of the race, but the race director might keep us informed on their blog and of course we will do our best at 303 to keep everyone up-2-date.
If you don't have anything going on yet for this weekend maybe today you might want to consider booking a room up in Breck or even racing, the Firecracker 50 is already full but there is room in the Breck epic race if you have $995 dollars laying around.
