Boulder City Attorney: Legal Barriers to Flagstaff Race Unlikely

Boulder City Attorney Tom Carr says he believes the city manager can waive a ban on competitive events on Flagstaff Mountain in order to allow the USA Pro Cycling Challenge to finish its Boulder stage there.
Former City Councilman Steve Pomerance warned the Boulder City Council on Tuesday night that it may face a lawsuit from residents over the decision to allow the race on city open space if it doesn't pass an ordinance specifically allowing the race, and even then, it might be in violation of the charter.
