Boulder B-cycle names James Waddell as new Executive Director
"Waddell brings experience and ideas from Denver B-cycle"
Boulder, CO 11/30/12:
Boulder B-cycle today announced that James Waddell has been named Executive Director. He will be responsible for running and growing Boulder B-cycle, Boulder's non-profit public bike-sharing system.
"We are delighted that James has joined Boulder B-cycle. His experience and success in this burgeoning movement will strengthen our ability to provide Boulder residents, workers and visitors with a world class bike-sharing system" said Chris Hazlitt, Boulder B-cycle Board Chair.
According to Waddell, "Bike sharing is rapidly gaining popularity in cities around the world as a viable element of the transportation network. We are literally changing the way people get around. I plan to build out the system and get more people onto bikes for errands, meetings around town, recreation and visitor fun."
Waddell was the Sponsorship & Marketing Director with Denver Bike Sharing, the owners and operators of Denver B-cycle. Previous to that he was the Membership Manager with the Downtown Denver Partnership.
About Boulder B-cycle: B-cycle is a community-based non-profit that makes bicycles available for short trips around town. For a $55 annual membership fee or a day fee of $5, the user can make an unlimited number of trips of short duration. The Boulder and Denver systems are not related but have membership reciprocity, so members can ride in both cities. Support comes from gifts, members, sponsors, and public funding.
