Registration Opens for Colorado Bicycle Summit
Denver (December 13, 2011)—Colorado’s second state bike summit will take place February 6–7, 2012, in downtown Denver. Registration for the event is now open. Presented by Bicycle Colorado, the summit will bring together advocates, industry leaders, on- and off-road cyclists, commuters and elected officials and staff from across the state. The inaugural 2011 summit sold out with 200 attendees.
Featured speakers include Shawn Hunter, CEO and co-chairman of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge, and Jeff Miller, President/CEO of the Alliance for Biking and Walking in Washington, DC. Governor John Hickenlooper has been invited to present the official welcome to summit attendees.
“We have an exciting program on tap and anticipate another successful summit in 2012,” said Dan Grunig, Executive Director of Bicycle Colorado. “Bicyclists are becoming more involved and understand that state and local decisions play a big role in cycling conditions in Colorado.”
The summit will educate and empower attendees through keynote speakers, plenary presentations and a wide selection of breakout session topics. Attendees will also benefit from advocacy training for bicycle-related issues on the 2012 Colorado legislative agenda, followed by a morning at the Capitol building meeting with state elected officials.
Sponsors for the summit include Kaiser Permanente, Pearl Izumi, Primal Wear, Gates Carbon Drive, Bikes Belong, PreRace.com, Polar Bottle, GO Boulder/City of Boulder, City of Denver and Ride the Rockies.
