2013 Ride the Rockies Route Announcement

Last night Ride the Rockies hosted their route announcement party with Ron Kiefel and Lucas Euser racing trikes, David Towle announcing the plays, and tons of great door prizes as they built up to the big news of what the 2013 route is going to be! There's many ways to look at this route, with excitement of the climbs as badges of courage riders will take back home with them or you can look at this route with the beauty of Colorado. I'm excited for the route myself as I will get a chance to see parts of Colorado that I have never seen before. The day I'm most excited for is day 3, on that day riders will start in the beautiful cycling rich town of Durango and finish in Pagosa Springs, but on one of those days near the end the cyclists get to ride over the Royal Gorge, that will be epic!

Stay tuned to 303cycling as we lead up to the state's great cycling tours and Ride the Rockies will be highlighted.

Thanks to a rider for correcting my Day 4

First I was posting this during the super bowl so my attention was limited but my mistake also highlights one of the other great benefits of a tour like this which is get to see other parts of Colorado that you might not other have any reason to travel to or thru. I have never seen the Royal Gorge, never seen Telluride (matter of fact, both day 1 and 2 is foreign to me). The other days I have done twice, once in 1995 and again in around 99 so those memories have clearly been purged out. This tour will re-aquaint myself with this wonderful state. I can't wait!
