2013 CycleFest: Heather Irmiger, Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski & Cool Kids on Bikes

I could wax on and on about how great Colorado high school cycling is. I could tell you what a difference it makes in the lives of every kid that shows up to practice and for every kid that lines up to race. I could tell you how lives have been turned around because they were on a high school mountain bike team. I could. You know I could. Because I’ve been an assistant coach at Boulder High for the past two years. And not to burst our bubbles but not all kids can afford to pay race fees. Not all kids have a bike. CycleFest is the fundraiser for those kids. CycleFest makes it possible for kids to race. Even when their parents can’t afford the race fees. Last year the league received requests for $12,500 in scholarship funds. $7,000 was raised last year at CycleFest and $9,000 was distributed.
And this is the part where you are wondering to yourself, “Why didn’t they have this when I was in high school?” and “What can I do to make sure more kids can line up to race?” That’s where you come in. CycleFest is the Colorado league’s big annual fundraiser. And it’s coming up soon! So get a sitter or grab your favorite girl or guy and come out and support Colorado high school cycling!

And if you like the idea of sipping cappuccinos, riding your bike with Heather Irmiger and Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski well then you can sign for all that and a delicious family style meal at Pasta Vino for June 1.
