2013 Colorado Road Racing Calendar is out. Download - Print it - Mark it up - and Prepare

Download

A little over a month starts the first race, but will you be ready? I remember for years I would print the calendar up and mark up A, B an C races with different highlighters and semi blindly prepare for the season (dark days before I learned how helpful a coach can be). Few noticeable changes in this year calendar are
- Deer Trail returns
- Koopenberg moved to May (this I love)
- Guanella Pass returns for a 2nd year (on my bucket list)

There are probably other interesting points so comment below on those as well.

Weld County and Deer Trail - Good racing for the Rollers! Bring on the crosswinds!

Koppenburg Circuit - Good, short hard paved/dirt circuit race close to town.
Morgul-Bismark - Classic!
Glenwood Springs road races - ???? - Any info on what they may be?

June through August
Only two Colorado road races - Mountain Biking here we come.

Very few race promoters are "volunteers"? A lot of them are in it for the $$$.

Look at the Leadville 100 series. It was sold for 3 million dollars a few years ago.

It takes money to put on good, big races. Road races have little turn out and you can't charge $100 entry fees.

Looks like another person without any business experience trying to give advice.

Dying Breed

It would be a life dream of mine to promote a great RR, but sad to say I think they are a dying breed. Heavy amount of red tape and logistics involved with the local municipalities, not to mention a ton of $$$ up front to pull it off. And a lot of the race population won't drive more than an hour...

Seems a situation like Morgul where you have pretty much the most visionary promotors in the state (Without Limits) with the backing and support of a local municipality (Superior) is rare indeed and to be appreciated. If we as racers want more of that, numbers talk. We need to show up and kick our friend and teammates a**es to show up.

and talking to promoters the

and talking to promoters the police bill for the road race alone is over $25,000. Big races on the front range take enormous support and funding to sometimes just break even. Superior stated they lost money for two years, who would want to come in and take on that risk.
