Rock the River Road Race - Any news on this happening? Hoping so, as it will be one of the few Colorado Road Races this summer. Wife is starting to make July 4th plans...
Yep, no response for promoter or club. With just a little over three weeks till the race, it's hard to make plans for that weekend to race with no info. All other July flyers are up except for Rock the River, Niwot(same club) and Longmont crits.
I would take that as a "no, not happening". Look for announcement of decision to cancel race, with appropriate "circumstances beyond our control" excuse any day now.
Surprised BRAC doesn't start penalizing these promoters for announcing a race before there's ever a race. This would be #3 on the season. I for one won't commit to a travel weekend if they're the promoter, who knows if they'll cancel the day before.
Yeah, Barry. That's pretty sweet. Pile up the dates and commit to hosting however many races you have dreamed up in your mind and take those precious weekend slots from other promoters who want to invest in and provide racing opportunities for their constituents. Be they road races or otherwise, the promoters obligating themselves to those dates are going to have their race flyers up and live links available at least 30 days prior to the date.
Rock the River? Rock the Cancellation more like...of a purported race that was never going to happen, anyway. Right?
All around disappointed in Barry and crew. Thursday's Longmont crit is a death trap. If he is willing to send us through that, how bad are the courses he decides not to send us through?
Race as fast as you feel comfortable racing the course. Feels dangerous, then cut the throttle back some. North Boulder Park is dangerous for some, that is partly why so many get pulled or drop out.
I'm really not trying to be an ass here, point is, I bet some love danger factor. Every course has a different behavior which benefits some or hurts some (literally). This is more obvious in cross than crits but I think you get the point.
Sounds like someone has a lack of bike handling skills. Good thing the velodrome is almost ready. You can go be nice and safe. Just follow the little black line in a big circle.

But, have you tried going directly to the promoter for an answer?

Promoters that fail to follow

Promoters that fail to follow through shouldn't be given weekends or race permits anymore.

Srsly, you think racing on the track is safer or requires less bike handling skills than crit racing??
