9:00 a.m. Saturday Feb. 23rd, 2013
Ride with Pete from Boulder to Denver to attend the North American Handmade Bicycle Show. This is the world’s premier showcase of handmade frames and components with nearly 200 exhibitors. The route is super fun and includes bike paths, dirt roads, and even some easy singletrack.
Who: Anyone looking for a fun adventure! This ride is designed for intermediate to advanced riders. If you are comfortable riding urban bike paths and dirt trails for about 3 hours, you’ll love this route! We’ll ride a moderate pace and the 40-mile route is mostly flat. If you’ve ever wondered how to ride from Boulder to Denver on a safe and fun route without cars, you don’t want to miss this!
Where & When: Saturday Feb. 23rd, 2013. Ride departs at 9:00 a.m. sharp from Boulder Cycle Sport-South (629 S. Broadway St.) Please arrive a few minutes early to sign in and get dialed. We’ll finish at the North American Handmade Bicycle Show at the Colorado Convention Center at about noon or 1 p.m.
What You Get: A professionally guided ride on a unique route. Please bring fuel for 3 hours on the bike and your own tools to repair a flat tire. No sag wagon.
What to Bring: A small backpack with a bike lock and comfortable clothes and shoes for the bike show, plus snacks for the ride. Be prepared for the weather that day. We’ll ride rain or shine.
Which Bike: Almost any bike will do! Either a road or cyclocross bike with durable tires suitable for urban riding and 5 miles of smooth dirt is perfect. Cyclocross knobbies are not needed, but will be fun for those who don’t mind the extra weight. A fast commuting bike or 29er would be fine too. Road tires should be tough and durable, like a 25mm wide Gatorskin or similar. We hate flats, so racing tires should be left at home! If there is snow, a cross bike would be the best choice.
