CU Triathlon Team Head Coaching Position

Position Overview:
The CU Triathlon team is a student run organization in the CU Club Sports Program. Started in 1993, we have won 14 collegiate national championships through USA Triathlon (USAT), including the last four years (2010-2013). With over 100 due paying members, the team has nine organized practices each week. In addition, we have potluck dinners, movie nights, team hikes, and volunteer adventures. The CU Tri Team is more than just a team; we are a family.

We are looking to expand our coaching staff with a new head coach. This person must be USAT certified and have some prior coaching experience. Outside of this certification, we are looking for an enthusiastic individual, who exhibits leadership and integrity, and who is knowledgeable and passionate about the sport of triathlon. Areas of Responsibility
• Oversee the training and development of over 100 due-paying athletes
• Develop a broad training plan for the team and more focused plans for some individuals
• Work with assistant coaches to develop athletes academically, athletically, and personally
• Instruct athletes on proper techniques in each discipline
• Help athletes overcome nutrition and injury problems
• Understand and comply with USAT’s rules regarding collegiate triathlon
• Maintain the team’s family atmosphere in training

• Certified USAT Coach
• Able to attend a minimum of four practices a week
• Able to attend in-state races, our regional race in March, Nationals in April, and any team training camp
• Communicate effectively to a wide range of personalities and abilities
• Have a record of integrity and leadership
• Able to deal with conflicts within a team
• Listen to, and mentor, student-athletes
