Team Evergreen Bicycle Club’s Triple Bypass Ride: For Those Who Dare

Evergreen, CO - December 8, 2011 – Team Evergreen Bicycle Club’s Triple Bypass Ride has put its mark on the map in the cycling world as one of the most exhilarating rides in the country. The 24th annual route is worthy to be a leg of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge. Riders climb three mountain passes – Juniper (11,140 ft.), Loveland (11,990 ft.) and Vail (10,560 ft.) - and gain more than 10,000 feet in elevation during the 120-mile ride. The 1,000 riders registered for the two-day Double Triple Bypass will conquer six mountain passes, more than 20,000 feet in elevation gain and 240-miles of riding, all in less than 48 hours. An impressive feat, for those who dared, considering that in its inaugural two day ride, only 360 out of 900 registered Double Triple Bypass riders crossed the finish line.

Registration is open from January 2, 2012 to January 5, 2012 at www.triplebypass.org.

Based on the success of last year’s inaugural two-day event, Team Evergreen, in its 24th year of organizing the traditional Triple Bypass, is excited to announce that they will move forward again with a two-day ride to be held on Saturday, July 14 and Sunday, July 15, 2012. “With the overwhelming success of the two-day event and the positive impact it had on the surrounding communities we are thrilled to provide this experience again in 2012,” said Victoria Klinger, President of the Team Evergreen Bicycle Club. “The two-day ride provided Team Evergreen Bicycle Club with the ability to raise and donate over $200,000 to local communities and volunteer groups that supported the ride - this is our largest donation year to date.”

In its entirety, The Triple Bypass event includes the Saturday ride from Evergreen to Avon open to 3,500 riders, the Sunday ride from Avon to Evergreen open to 2,500 riders, and for those who dare, the Saturday and Sunday ride, also known as the “Double Triple Bypass” will be capped at 1,000 riders. With two ride days planned for 2012, the Triple Bypass Bicycle Ride has quickly become one of the largest and most challenging rides in Colorado.

In addition to its acclaim as a top-notch endurance challenge, The Triple Bypass, since inception, has enabled Team Evergreen to distribute donations in excess of $900,000 to local community and charitable organizations along the route and throughout Colorado. The two ride days will continue to allow Team Evergreen to grow their contributions to the community, and will help to support Team Evergreens' mission to promote safe cycling and showcase the beauty of the Rocky Mountains.

The Triple Bypass provides an unparalleled experience to riders and generates a spotlight for tourism and cycling in the state of Colorado.
