Join us for the inaugural Icon LASIK TOUR of the MOON, Hell of the West Cycling Classic, on October 6, 2012 in Grand Junction / Colorado National Monument, CO.
The Tour of the Moon was made famous in the 1970's and 1980's as a premier stage of the Coors Classic bicycle race and later in the cycling movie American Flyers. It continues to be considered one of the premier road rides in the western United States. The breathtaking, high desert scenery and beautiful roads make this an epic day of cycling.
Cyclists will start and finish at Two Rivers Convention Center in downtown Grand Junction, Colorado. All participants will start with the spectacular ride through the Colorado National Monument entering through the east entrance and exiting through the west entrance. Cyclists can to choose to continue into the beautiful farm country surrounding Fruita for the metric century or take the short-cut (41-mile cut -off) returning back to Two Rivers Convention Center via the country roads at the base of the Monument. Participants will be greeted by the "Harvest Moon Celebration". The post-ride party with music, an up-scale lunch, prize drawings and cycling expo will continue throughout the afternoon.
The 2012 ride will be limited to the first 2,000 registered participants. The Tour of the Moon will work in partnership to raise funds for the Colorado Riverfront Commission and Bicycle Colorado.
