2011 - Wapiyapi Classic

The 2nd Annual Roche Constructors Wapiyapi Classic will be held on Sunday, Sept. 25 in Aspen, Colo., and will feature seven-time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong among other professional cyclists. This is one of Aspen's prime fall foliage weekends and is an absolutely gorgeous ride.

The Roche Constructors Wapiyapi Classic ride courses include scenic 25- and 50-mile options, which each start and finish at Paepcke Park. Registration for the 25-mile course starts at $50 and the 50-mile course starts at $70 with a $200 fundraising requirement for all participants. The registration fees increase to $60 and $80, respectively on June 15. Register Online

Incredible prizes will be awarded to the top fundraisers. The top 20 fundraisers will get the opportunity to start the ride with Lance Armstrong and the top 10 fundraisers will be invited to a pre-ride party hosted by Lance Armstrong and Anna Hansen.

Wapiyapi is a Colorado based nonprofit organization that offers a community of hope and support to families affected by childhood cancer. As of 2011, their annual summer camps and retreats have served over 1,200 children by offering a safe and nurturing environment to allow these patients and their families the natural freedoms of childhood. With the success of last year’s Wapiyapi Classic, the charity is piloting several new initiatives designed to support unique niches within the pediatric oncology community. A bereavement support program Young Adult Retreats, and events for Spanish-speaking families are all new programs this year. Wapiyapi hopes that these opportunities will empower families to understand that they do not face their challenges alone.
