Angelo's Criterium

In 2010, both the ACA Angelo's Criterium in Pueblo and the USA Cycling sanctioned Aspen Criterium were held on the same day in April or May. I think both had a dismal turnout.

For 2011, Angelo's Criterium, according to the 11/17/10 ACA 2011 Tentaive Racing Calendar, was to be July 16. That date is now the ACA "Tour of Vail" organized by the Battenkill race organizer from NY. I believe it will be one of four races organized by that group in the US this year.

The Aspen Criterium is currently, already with a USAC race permit, May 22 with a $4,200 prize list for Pro, 1, 2's and a corresponding prize list for other classes/categories.

Other USA Cycling races (collegiate with some open classes/categories, are The Oredigger in Golden on March 26, Front Range Classic at the Air Force Academy on April 16/17 and of course, the Iron Horse over the Memorial Day weekend.

See http://www.usacycling.org/events/index.php?state=CO&race=Road for USAC's issued road race permits.

As USAC as all but abandoned Colorado on both the road and mtb sides and there is no more USAC CO Local Assoc., which was useless anyway, I have put together a CO Mtb Tentative Race Calendar and it is updated with input from CO race organizers. It is on one of my sites at www.sandcreeksports.com

Also, the August 19-21 Fort Collins Cycling Festival will be a UCI World Tour Qualifing Event for Masters/Amateurs.

I hope this helps as information is so hard to come by in CO.

Oh, yeah, now I remember

The Pueblo crit. Bummer. I like that course, have always liked small-town downtown crits. I hope they can do something to work out the scheduling kinks and get more rider support for the event.
