ATTENTION BOULDER COUNTY CYCLISTS!!
Boulder County is starting off the 2010 construction season with a bang, as we replace two bridges along popular cycling routes! Both bridges are expected to be open to traffic by the end of June with improved facilities for cyclists.
In the meantime, both the 95th Street bridge south of Pike Road in Longmont and the Niwot Road Bridge over the Feeder Canal will be closed to all traffic. Cyclists are urged to use caution around both projects, especially the Niwot Road Bridge Project which will detour all traffic to gravel roads.
Niwot Road CLOSED at the Boulder Feeder Canal. April 5 - June 15. Niwot Road will be closed at the Boulder Feeder Canal (between 55th and 63rd) starting Monday April 5, to allow for the replacement of the Feeder Canal Bridge. The new bridge will maintain the current two-lane configuration along with road shoulders to provide increased safety for bicycles and pedestrians. The closure is expected to last through June 15. No vehicle access will be permitted during closure. All traffic will be detoured along 55th Street and Monarch Road, both of which are gravel surfaced.
95th Street CLOSED south of Pike Road (City of Longmont). April 12 - June 22. 95th Street will be closed to all vehicles from Pike Road to Pintail Drive to allow for the replacement of the 95th Street Bridge over Lefthand Creek. The new bridge will include bike lanes and a multi-use path across the creek as well as provide for a trail crossing underneath the structure. The bridge is anticipated to be open to traffic on June 22, with construction continuing through the beginning of August.
All schedules are subject to change due to weather or other mitigating factors. More specific information on each project will be provided as it becomes known. Updates are available on the county website: www.BoulderCounty.org/transportation
Please use caution when riding and remember, "Courtesy is Contagious"!!!!
