Description: Deer Trail Road Race is the second most popular race in Colorado behind Mt. Evans according to racer particiption from the ACA website. The course is in eastern Colorado on the rolling but mostly flat plans. Winds and heat can be a killer on course.
Course: Long course that usually resembles that of a wagon wheel with a series of out and backs on various roads. Winds are critical on the open plans and breakaways do often happen largely due to either lazy riders at the front or team tactics. The yellow line rule (strictly enforced) and huge fields make it near impossible to move in the field and aggressive riding and crashes happen often as a result of that.
