Cyclist Killed in North Boulder Accident

The below intersection does not look that bad. But last Saturday a tragic accident happened.

Here is the ghost bike that was placed at the scene.

One Minute of silence

What is a ghost bike?

Ghost Bikes are small and somber memorials for bicyclists who are killed or hit on the street. A bicycle is painted all white and locked to a street sign near the crash site, accompanied by a small plaque. They serve as reminders of the tragedy that took place on an otherwise anonymous street corner, and as quiet statements in support of cyclists' right to safe travel.
History of ghost bikes

Its sad the number of ghost bikes we have featured on this site (#1 #2).

We have also talked about the dangers of commuting. Be careful out there and ride defensively.

News Item:

Dangerous intersection

I was very nearly hit by a car at that intersection last year. Going east on 28th it is down hill and really fast. Cars misjudge the speed or simply don't look. The car that almost hit me saw me at last minute and he slammed on the brakes leaving me only a foot to slip by. Part of it is that the car didn't stop because there was no other oncoming traffic. It is not a 90 degree turn for cars so they can go through it quickly without having to slow down much.

Boulder County and City of

Boulder County and City of Boulder are in complete denial about being "bike-friendly" but the average motorist is more focussed on threading their way through on-coming auto traffic and (in Casey's case) not even looking for more than the space between two cars to scoot through. Rest In Peace, are missed.
