1984 Lookout Mountain Results

The last story on The old days of cycling and Lookout Mtn has inspired a reader to scan and send me the 1984 Lookout Mountain Hill climb results!! Look through the list and you will see some familiar names, Jeff Hartmann, Nico Toutenhoufd, Thomas Prehn, etc. Lots of history here in Colorado cycling.

The most recent record was set by Tom Daniels at 16:02. I thought Tom broke the previous record set way back by Alexi Grewal at 17:.... However, I am not sure of this. Can anybody fill us in on this?

I see the winner was Doug Smith. He was the National Champion for Senior Men in 1986, and was on the box of Wheaties(!) around that time. I always wondered why some of the rest of the big name riders of the time made the leap to EuroPro, and he raced domestically for a few years and faded away.
